Tahiti Tourisme Appoints New Australian Representative

Tahiti Tourisme has appointed Robert Thompson as its representative for Australia and announced he will continue his role as representative for New Zealand on an interim basis.

Mr Thompson moved to Sydney from Auckland to oversee Tahiti Tourisme’s Australian operations after Australia was given full branch status in April.  He has worked for Tahiti Tourisme for the past six years, three of them in charge of its NZ operations.

Tahiti Tourisme Chief Executive Dany Panero said Australia had been upgraded to a full branch after achieving consistent growth in market share since 2005 and becoming one of Tahiti’s biggest growth markets.

Commenting on the appointment Mr Thompson said he had greatly enjoyed the five months he had been in Sydney and was now looking forward to developing synergies in both markets to build on solid growth arising from strong marketing programs and ongoing support from Air Tahiti Nui and Air New Zealand.

“Tahiti has always been a dream destination for Australians, but with direct flights to Papeete and a growing range of holiday experiences Australian travellers are finding it much more convenient and desirable for an offshore escape,” he said.
